Naw'lins

Here's our RV set up at Pontchartrain Landing.  Very nice spot.

And Gerard with our dog, Tibby.  You can see how we have nice blue skies today - although still cool.

Our RV park has a shuttle going into, and out of, downtown New Orleans 2-3 times a day.  We took the 10 a.m. shuttle with a plan to come back on the 4 p.m. shuttle.

Naw'lins (the local pronunciation) is quite the place.  Tons of stuff to do - in fact, so much it's hard to pick things.  Today we just enjoyed walking around the French Quarter and the Riverwalk area.

Coincidentally, our daughter, Andrea, and her husband, Chris, were leaving on a cruise from New Orleans today with friends.  It took a while to meet up with Andrea this morning and then we arranged to see them off on their cruise at 3 p.m.  However, they weren't on the ship yet when we had to return for our shuttle.  Oh well, I'm sure they'll have a good time on this ship (Carnival Elation).

New Orleans is full of street performers and I have to say, most of them are VERY good.  Both these groups were amazing...the first one performing jazz, the second one bluegrass.

We had Po'boys for lunch at this little park restaurant where they honour "musical legends".  I never thought to take a picture of our po'boys until after we ate them.  Yum.  I also neglected to mention the beignets we had earlier.  We had to have a "fake one" because the line-up for the Cafe du Monde was so long, we would have missed our shuttle!  Nevertheless, it was something I could eat every morning.  Better than just a doughnut.

This is a river boat, the Natchez, which does sunset dinner cruises on the Mississippi River.  And yes, that's the Mississippi River in the picture.

We booked a place to eat tomorrow night at this restaurant.  It's supposed to be very good.  I'll let you know how that is.

Although their spelling is a little to be desired...I think it probably should say courtyard "dining".  (Or perhaps it was referring to the live music???)  And I don't think the "hurricanes" are meant to be "hurricianes".  But we'll see.
